The GND is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity. Labor has seen our collective power wane over the last forty years, as generations of well-funded assaults on workers’ rights and protections have taken their toll. Labor does not have the power to pass structural reforms to advance our interests on our own. We need the power of our sister movements—for racial justice, climate justice, women’s rights, and so many others—to build the world we want to see. By building towards intersectional climate justice, the GND provides an opportunity to transform this country. We’re stronger together, and labor’s orientation towards the GND should reflect that.
